Ok, I told everybody in the August 2009 News Letter how you can save a bundle compaired to shopping at your local hobby shop. This information does not make a lot of hobby shops happy because they really cannot compete against a place like Tower Hobbies and this is why.

Lets say you have a order that is $150.00 dollars. Lets say you are at your local hobby shop, you have to add in sales tax right unless you are in one of the very few states that does not have sales tax. So lets use the sales tax rate in my area, 8.25%, now add that to the $150.00 dollars which is $12.38 + $150.00 = $162.38, plus you have to spend the time to drive down there, gas, etc... So you may as well add another $10.00 dollars after you figure in that, and that is if you are close and do not have to drive in from the country. So your $150.00 dollar order just cost you around $175.00 dollars.

Now lets do the math for the same order with Tower Hobbies. In order to save a lot from Tower Hobbies you need to become a member for a small fee of around 25.00 dollars and that is for an entire year, do not worry it will pay off soon because you will always need more and more. Becoming a Tower Hobby member gets you all kinds of nice deals, free shipping on orders over $150.00 dollars, special discounts like the one I am going to tell you about, etc... OK, since I am a Tower Member, I get these deals all the time if you buy a certain dollar amount.

If Your Order Totals: $100.00-$124.99, you save $15.00 dollars
If Your Order Totals: $125.00-$149.99, you save $20.00 dollars
If Your Order Totals: $150.00-$199.00, you save $25.00 dollars
If Your Order Totals: $200.00-$224.99, you save $35.00 dollars
If Your Order Totals: $225.00-$249.99, you save $40.00 dollars
If Your Order Totals: $250.00-$299.99, you save $50.00 dollars
If Your Order Totals: $300.00 or more, you save $60.00 dollars

But back to our $150.00 dollar order. Lets use our discount of $25.00 dollars and subtract it from the $150.00, so that is $150.00 - $25.00 = $125.00 is your total you will pay. Now would you rather pay $175.00 or more depending on your location or $125.00 and it is delivered to your door? Remember you get free shipping on any order of at least $150.00 dollars, it does not matter if the discount drops it below that as long as the total was $150.00 before the discount. So shopping at Tower Hobbies saved you around $50.00 dollars for the exact same thing.

I had an order not to long ago that was a little over $600.00 dollars. I took that order and broke it up into 2 separate orders and let me tell you why. The discounts max out after $300.00 dollars, so break them up, that way you still get the free shipping, plus I got $60.00 dollars off each of the two orders, which means I got my $600.00 dollar order for $480.00 dollars, and it was delieved right to my front door. That same order would have cost me at the hobby shop $600.00 + (sales tax) of $49.50 = $649.50, plus my time and gas to go there. But without even taking in count the extra cost of going to the hobby shop that is a savings of: $169.50 for the exact same thing.
